The Team


Norman qualified as an Accountant in 1981. Since that time he has worked as a Management Consultant for Price Waterhouse and has held various board level positions in manufacturing companies. In 2005, he completed a Masters Degree in Finance and Accounting and he is an FCA Approved Person. Norman founded Acceleris in 2000 to raise finance for start-up and early stage companies. Norman has been advising and securing funding for high growth companies for the last 15 years and has developed an excellent track record of EIS (and latterly SEIS) investing. He has direct experience of the problems facing start-ups and early stage technology companies when raising capital, and continues to be involved in a non-executive or advisory role to several of the companies advised. Norman has built up a strong network of funding sources throughout the UK from high net worth individuals through to larger funding sources.


Jean is an experienced General Manager and Director with a strong FMCG background in business strategy and business planning. She created, and had P&L responsibility, for a multi-million pound subsidiary business at Kingfisher PLC and has implemented value-maximising product strategies for some of Britain’s leading companies including Compaq Computer, Kingfisher and Dixons Stores Group. During her career with these companies, Jean has been successful in identifying and opening new market opportunities in B2B and SME, resulting in substantial incremental revenue and high cumulative growth.

Subsequent to her career with large corporations, Jean co-founded two start-up businesses, the first in financial data management and the second to licence a patented product in structural engineering. Jean was a Director of E-Synergy Limited, an early stage VC and a board member of several portfolio companies.


Ron is Chairman of InvestingZone and founder on E-Synergy. He holds engineering degrees from the universities of London and Cambridge and, during the last 30 years, he has been a director of companies in the fields of international management consulting, contract R&D, consumer goods and management training. During this time he has also been a board member of several investment companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. The most recent of these was Electra Private Equity PLC where, for several years, he was Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Ron has considerable experience in the commercial exploitation of technology. He was the youngest director of Cambridge Consultants which was the catalyst for many successful start-up businesses. This led to senior roles at Wilkinson Sword, where he was responsible for the engineering development of all product lines, and at Ingersoll Engineers Inc. In 1985 he was appointed CEO of Pera which, through acquisitions, he expanded from a single-site UK business to a group with offices in eight countries. He is a keen investor in early-stage, high-tech companies. 


Jon Moulton, Chairman of Advisory Board

Jon is the founder of Better Capital and one of the UK's most experienced and successful private investors. He is a Chartered Accountant, a CF and a Fellow of the Institute for Turnaround Professionals. Former Managing Partner of Alchemy, Jon also previously worked with Citicorp Venture Capital in New York and London, Permira and Apax. 

Jon is a Trustee of the UK Stem Cell Foundation. He is Non-Executive Chairman of FinnCap, the stockbroker and a Member of the Advisory Board for the £3.1bn UK Regional Growth Fund.


Simon has been with Acceleris since December 2004 having graduated from university with a BA (Hons) Degree in Accounting & Finance. He has since completed the certificate in Corporate Finance and is an FCA Approved Person. Simon has advised on over 50 transactions for private and listed SME’s and has led EIS fundraisings with both VC involvement and high net worth individuals. His transactional experience includes fundraisings, restructurings, rights issues, spin-outs and disposals. He is responsible for investment monitoring and communication for several client companies of Acceleris and also provides outsourced company secretarial and accountancy services.


Patrick joined Acceleris Capital in February 2014 having graduated from Lancaster University with a BA (Hons) Degree in Economics and Politics. Patrick is responsible for researching new opportunities, DD and administration. Patrick also works on Acceleris’s PR, marketing and website, including both external publications and internal documentation and social media activities.


Alex joined InvestingZone in July 2014 as a one of the customer support team, his strong financial acumen and business aptitude led quickly to his promotion as Investment Associate. His role is to assist the experienced investment management team in the investment process, helping appraise business propositions; business plans, financial models and investment sought on companies looking to raise funds via the investor network on the InvestingZone platform.

His competency in Information Technology has meant that he is frequently called upon to deal with internal and external IT support issues as well as general platform functionality and on-going development.

Alex is currently studying toward his CFA qualification.  Prior to joining InvestingZone Alex worked in Corporate Events, where at a young age he led a team of five in the area of Logistics.
